it’s hayama-san’s bday today 🥺🥺🥺 here’s a few of his moments that live rent free in my head lmao

his debut role was in the boueibu franchise and they did livestreams for each episode or something those details are foggy lol, but he wound up getting tickled against his will on stream one time and the way he cursed out his costar LOL anyway this is him making sure he’s getting his revenge

he’s rolled back on it a bit but he was a bl ambassador at one point and lmao his web show that used to be a bl recs talk got nominated for a streaming/radio award under the 🔞 category. he was honoured ofc LOL

speaking of that show, on a collab episode with takeuchi-san’s, i will neither forget nor forgive them for role playing #daddykink #firsttime #agegap #begentleshochan as they played with some play dough my face was on fire from embarrassment and from laughing LMAO

the bat seiyuu are as much family as their characters 😌😌😌 throwback to that time all three were part of this acting gig and in order to be together forever, he and sakakihara-san killed takeuchi-san and then killed each other 🥺🥺🥺 this was preceded by the three of them watching a movie together btw and revealing that the hayama-san and sakakihara-san were actually aliens LOL

kamio-san is a part of said acting gig and kinda rules the show so hayama-san, who is more like kuukou than he realises lol, has vowed to be his challenger and got his win by making kamio-san cry actual tears during their master and dog skit where hayama-san, the dog, said he would like to sniff kamio-san’s ass LMAO

i like the way he says bad ass temple sometimes lol

Thursday's For The Boys! 1

Season 1 - Episodes 1-3

Episode 1:

- Man, when i first watched this back in the day i had no idea how much of an impact itd have on my life.

- boueibu is so full of japanese wordplay i can tell When theyre making a joke but not What the joke is. Tbh watching boueibu really helped my anime-watching comprehension cuz it taught me to think 'im sure this makes more sense in japanese'

- Once again I forgot that Atsushi is the class lead, surprised that didnt come up more in the plot ?

- Love how Shirai Yusuke began his career voicing Io, who is relatively formal and mature, to then go on to be a beloved chaos demon in the seiyuu world

- Fun fact the first boueibu fanart i drew was NSFW fanart of yumoto and it will Never see the light of day. Never. I'll just say it involved Love Sticks.

- GOD Im realizing how many times i've seen ep1 bc i was so desperate for More when it first came out, i watched and rewatched ep1 SO many times in that first week

- always loved that Atsushi's love stick is a clover and epinard means spinach. hes just a leaf.

- Will never forgive them for translating "ore-sama faiya" as "i am awesome fire", ore-sama hits so much harder.

- Context for when this first came out: i was in high school but going to community college for high school credit 💅 and intentionally was not making friends bc i was trying to figure out the whole Me situation, so boueibu was so damn important to me at the time

- I took one look at Akoya at the end of this ep and i have never been the same since, it was blorbo at first sight

Episode 2:

- OBVS the seitokai are my favs

- I think around the time this ep came out i was shipping Enatsu and Ioryuu mainly, but was rly ok woth any combo of characters

- i totally understand why En was and is so popular, he rly is the hot one of the main charas

- throwback to a small group of ppl using tawarayama sensei dying as a reason to call the show problematic bc it was making a joke of death 🙄

- zundar said go get that boy with ocd

- KINCHAN LEG, BEST TRANSFORMATION TBH

- ryuu saying 'sense-nai yo' lives in my head

- really incredible how genuinely groundbreaking this was, there wasnt an Actual Genre-Compliant mahou shounen anime before this, or since really.

- MANNN i miss you no 3 meters is just the soundtrack of 2015 for me

Episode 3:

- rly interesting this was the only ep where the enemy was a teacher instead of a student

- unrelated to the ep but Warera Seigi na Caerula Adamas was the best song from s1 hands down

- the binanshi contest existing rly solidified that this is a show for fujin

- ryuu: "theres 100% girls around me all the time!" (never seen with girls)(only ever seen with Io)(goes to all-boys school)

- i loved akoya's beef w ryuu mainly bc it meant i got to see akoya 😋

- ikinari komingu auto?!

- LMAO so many famous scenes in this ep!!! the fuckin bathroom scene with Io kills me still

- this was where i learned the word aniki

- back in the day they used Yumoto not being affected by kurotori's spell as a reason that he's aspec and tbh i still headcanon that for said reason alone

- i know its a hallmark of boueibu but i always wished different characters could give speeches that saved the enemies. imagine T_T

That's all very interesting. I very much only use either website to see if certain VA is in a certain anime or not, so I didn't even know you could put the roles in different orders lol

Every time I rewatch some episode of Boueibu HK I wonder again how the staff even planned this season. Like. Almost nothing meaningful happens with the characters

TLDR the characters with the most developement in HK are the monsters

Kyoutarou is there as a complete contrast to Yumoto while keeping the battle speeches so his characterization doesn't make much sense. Nanao is mere fujoshi bait. Taiju and Taishi have random bits of dialogue that hint at possible arcs for s2 but not enough to tell us what it really is. Maasa has an unfinished arc in his episode, where supposedly he's putting fatty butter in his cookies to make everyone else overweight because he resents Ichiro not defending him when they were little, but then his friends tell him it's fine and then he can move on??? This would work with Ichiro's theme of not wanting to be immature or dense anymore, except they only ever used this theme as a gag (misunderstanding the meaning of whatever the others have said) or to straight up humilliate him (ep4) and continue treating him like a stupid baby. At the end of the season Maasa and him have made peace somehow and that's it. Ata gets in my opinion the closest thing to a complete arc, even if it's just staring angrily at Kyoutarou for ten episodes, then explaining his problem while fighting him and finally getting his apology and reconcilliation. At least it's something. And poor Ryouma is just there to be the butt of a few jokes about how he lets Nanao and Kyoutarou use him, be in a couple of cute shippy scenes, and also for Ata to completely dismiss him from the flashbacks to the point where if they had first met in high school nothing would've changed.

The relationships barely have developement either. Love had anime episodes and manga chapters dedicated to the different close friendships solving their conflicts and becoming closer. There were also many instances of seeing how close the Hakone brothers-defense club and Beppu brothers' relationships were, and even though they didn't have any conflict between themselves, they made them strong sides for the final fight. Yumoto didn't get a character arc but through the entire anime he was revealed to be strong, considerate, forgiving and mature, willing to kindly befriend the Beppu twins for his brother but not let them walk all over him; contrary to how he was presented in the first episodes, like a stereotypical magical girl protagonist. Anyway in HK there's no meaningful conflict between any of them besides Kyoutarou and Ata. Taishi and Ichiro argue constantly but don't show to genuinely like each other after all like IoRyuu or EnAtsu did. Ichiro and Maasa never make any progress to be together again, Maasa hints once at liking Taishi and nothing comes from it, and Nanao and Taiju have the most artificial friendship in the cast that I just do not understand. They just ran an ice cream shop once with again unexplained success and make sassy remarks at each other ever since. And I guess Karurusu and Furanui had a bit of developement thanks to Kyou and Ata in ep12. Idk about the aliens, this time it's like they didn't do it completely well but also not as bad as with the rest of the cast. Maybe bc they didn't appear as much as the humans in most of the episodes

I'm realizing now that a few of these complaints are related to Nanao acting weird

Idk where to put this but I'd like to point out Kinshiro's principles of halting the fight with the Battle Lovers as soon as he finds out that the s1 conflict was set up for a reality show and actively defending them from an attack because they're Binan students, despite still not having received his apology from Atsushi. Ata might've done the same if the HK finale's events had gone in the same order (travelling to Honyalaland to fight Wao, then Kyoutarou apologizing to Ata), but he doesn't feel as a character as deep as Kinshiro in that sense bc they didn't really show him to be in other ways.

Love feels more like an actual group of people while HK feels like they were filling in friendship group roles or something

Looking back on Boueibu, it’s wild just how much content there was.

There was the anime,

There was a manga,

There were light novels,

There were drama CDs,

There was a musical,

There were seiyuu events,

There was a whole Otome game...

I’m sure I’m missing something but W O W we were spoiled in the best way!

(It makes me tearfully happy Ume-chan rushed to be with everyone for the last time! When the news about the event broke many wondered why Ume-chan wasn’t appearing on the cast list especially since it was the final. I’m so, so happy!)

It’s too sad to say goodbye to our boueibu bbys! 😭 We’ll always remember the show poking fun at itself, the star-studded senpai cast that featured in every episode, when the show got a second season and new characters appeared...but most of all I’ll always remember the silly antics and the amazing bond our bbys have. Whitey said before when he appeared on Hyorotto Danshi, whenever his boueibu members are at a recording studio with him he feels a bit of relief - he feels like they’re his family!
